Indoor Summer Fun!

This summer in St. Louis has been hot! (I know that may seem like a silly statement) and maybe I’m crazy, but I feel like it has been way hotter than usual. As soon as I walk out the door I immediately start sweating. Not pleasant. I feel like I either need to be in a pool, or in the air conditioning.

Although I do love the water park/ pool, sometimes we need to be inside. So, one of our favorite indoor craft projects is SLIME! It’s so easy and fast, and then the kids are entertained for a good chunk of time playing with it. I don’t know about you all, but we have tries a gazillion different slime recipes, so I’m sharing what we have found that works. We don’t like the slime to be super sticky and stick to your hands, but we also don’t want it hard to where it barely stretches….we are very picky slime people.

Our recipe is super simple

1 tube of Elmers glitter glue

1/2 tsp baking soda

1 TBSP contact solution

thats it! So easy!

First empty the glitter glue into the bowl

Then, add the 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the glue and mix together!

Then add the 1TBSP of contact solution. We add half, mix it together, and then the other half. I feel like it helps it mix better that way. BAM you are finished!

( Now if you like your slime to be more sticky, then add less contact solution. If you like it more like putty consistency, then add a little bit more contact solution)

I have also seen people adding these styrofoam balls to their slime to make it more like FLOAM (from back in the day, when I was little) so I picked up a bag from hobby lobby, and we LOVED it!

We added them in before we added the baking soda and contact solution….it can be added after, but its harder to get be mixed in.

But it turned out really cool and the kids liked it!

And then about 2 seconds after this Cash knocked over the bag of styrofoam balls and it took me about a million years to get them all cleaned up! 🙂

Our other go-to indoor activity is coloring! I feel like it calms them down when things are getting a little too crazy. We color A-LOT, and gel pens are our favorite to use! Hubby picked up this set of 100 gel pens for us. They are on this cool spinning caddy that is fun, but I also feel the need to put all the colors back in the right spots when we are done. He purchased them from ROSS, but I see them often at COSTCO and SAMS CLUB! So I created a fun little SUMMER coloring page as a free download for you all!I hope you and your kiddos enjoy it!
